Representatives of the EU Advisory Mission visited the Western Regional Directorate

In the context of the escalation of migration on the Polish-Belarusian border, the readiness of border guards to act in crisis situations and cooperation with other military formations and law enforcement agencies was discussed.

As part of cooperation and development of international cooperation between the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and EUAM, Josef Oserka, Senior Adviser on Integrated Border Management of the EU Civil Security Sector Reform Advisory Mission, paid a study visit to the Western Regional Directorate today.

The head of the department Viktor Babyuk acquainted the guest with the structure and tasks of the body in the system of protection of the state border of Ukraine, as well as the main areas of combating illegal activities.

During the meeting, the issues of current and future cooperation for 2022 in the interests of reliable protection of the state border in the area of ​​responsibility of the Western Regional Directorate were discussed.

Particularly, in the context of the escalation of migration on the Polish-Belarusian border, they discussed the readiness of border guards to act in crisis situations and cooperation with other military formations and law enforcement agencies.

Possibilities for organizing and conducting next year's trainings for border guards to counter mass riots, including considering the experience of border guards in European countries, were also considered.

In addition, representatives of the Mission and the Western Administration discussed possible ways to improve countering the so-called “Air smuggling” carried out by offenders using unmanned aerial vehicles and small aircraft.

At the end of the visit, Josef Oserka and Viktor Babyuk thanked each other for their cooperation and agreed on the next meeting.
