Rapid Trident – 2020, Ukrainian-American command-staff exercises engaging forces and facilities, is scheduled for the second half of September at the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security of the National Academy of Land Forces.

Currently, the main stage of exercises is underway.  In particular, the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security (ICPS) of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy is holding a final conference on planning Ukrainian-American command-staff exercises Rapid Trident – 2020 engaging forces and facilities.

Besides, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and countries participating in the exercise, representatives of other law enforcement agencies coordinate with the SSU Anti-Terrorist Center, including the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the National Police, the State Security Department and the Red Cross.

Epidemiological situation in Ukraine, rules of observance of quarantine measures by its participants, prevention of COVID-19 spread both during movement of military men of different countries to the military range, and during direct carrying out of command-staff and field phases are the basic problems during carrying out the final stage of exercise planning.

The conference was also attended by representatives of the armed forces of the Kingdom of Denmark, Lithuania, Germany and Poland. Despite the quarantine, representatives of other countries, primarily the United States, joined the planning phase through video conference and other technological means of remote communication. In total, about 2,500 people from more than 10 countries will take part in the maneuvers. The largest contingents, as usual, are from Ukraine and the United States.

The most numerous unit of the Armed Forces will be one of the mechanized brigades of the South Operational Command; concerning other component of the security and defense sector is the unit of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, namely the Rapid Response Border Command of the Canine Training Center of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

It should be noted that during the exercises with various tasks - defense, offensive, stabilization actions - representatives of various law enforcement agencies worked out actions to conduct anti-sabotage and anti-terrorist operations.
