As part of a work trip to Donetsk region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited Maiorske Entry-Exit Checkpoint.

The President inspected the arrangement of the checkpoint and the order of carrying out control procedures there.

The President inspected the workplaces of the staff at the checkpoint. The entry-exit checkpoint is equipped with 35 workplaces for checking passports, which enables to avoid queues even in case of an increase in passenger traffic.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi familiarized with the procedure of vehicle inspection at the checkpoint. Serhii Deineko noted that the main threats existing at the checkpoint are attempts to transport currency, drugs and narcotics, weapons and explosives.

The Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine noted that since March 22, after quarantine measures introduction the checkpoint has been temporarily out of operation. “The peak load was recorded at the beginning of March until the introduction of quarantine. There were up to 14,600 people a day there”, Serhii Deineko said.

The President asked whether there were any appeals from citizens to resume the work of the entry-exit checkpoint. The head of the State Border Guard Service noted that no such appeals had been received, but Majorske was ready to resume work if necessary.

“In fact, we are ready to carry out all control operations. The distance from the entry-exit checkpoint to the demarcation line is 800 meters," Serhii Deineko said. Volodymyr Zelenskyi also visited the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the line of contact, where he talked to the fighters. The President presented state awards to the military men.
