"2018 became a regular exam for sustainability for the State Border Guard Service. New challenges, including the aggression of the Russian Federation, were a decisive factor, that forcing the agency to take action: reforms, experiments and decision-making, "said the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in an interview with Channel 5.

Also, Petro Oleksandrovych noted that last year for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine seemed rather tense, as well as the previous, nearly five years of Russian aggression against Ukraine. And the priority for the border authorities remained actions in the Joint Operation Zone.

At the same time, outlining the main tasks that were set before the State Border Guard Service in 2018, the Head of the border agency highlighted the main thing that last year was able to do - to save lives and health of the personnel and prevent losses among the personnel of the State Border Guard Service.

Among the achievements reached by State Border Guard Service was the fixed dynamics of the planned developing of the state border protection system, especially in the areas of concentration of major efforts.

In addition, he stated that the further integration of the State Border Guard Service into a European security field and the strengthening of international contacts was important.

Equally important and one of the main priorities, the Head of the Service has highlighted the issues of social security of personnel and development of material and technical base.

Separately, Petro Tsygykal noted that with the support of the President of Ukraine and the Minister of Internal Affairs the Ukrainian Border Guard Day was established last year, which is now celebrated on April 30.

"This is a very significant and motivational day for us, the border guards of Ukraine," the Head of the service said.
