The latest software and hardware complex “Navigation simulator NTPro 5000” has been equipped by the Maritime Guard Training Center for a year.

Since November last year, the center has successfully used the software and hardware complex for practical training of specialists of the navigating combat unit of ships and boats of the Maritime Guard, watch officers, pilots of small ships, navigating electricians, commanders of small boats of Maritime Guard and motorists of small border guard cutters. More than 70 specialists have been trained on this equipment.

The four workstations in the training office of the basics of navigation, organization of ship service and maritime safety have three channels of visualization: navigation and radar station, ship control console, computer navigation system ECDIS, which contains information in accordance with the requirements of the International Maritime Organization, provides security navigation and is an alternative to traditional paper maps.

There are three sailing areas and five different types of main ships at each workplace.

The ship management console gives the cadet the opportunity to feel as realistic as possible in the process of ship management, allows him to obtain the necessary information about the movement of the ship as quick as possible.

Electronic-cartographic navigation system Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS allows cadets to comprehensively manipulate maps, perform automatic logging, obtain information about navigation objects, plan the transition, keep track of weather conditions, turn on the alarm.

However, the simulator is equipped with radar systems, which are designed for the safety of navigation of the ship or boat in low visibility. The watch officer himself chooses the station of his choice, at which it is more convenient and expedient for him to work in certain conditions. When using exercises, a sound system is used, i.e. the noise of the main engine, ambient sounds (rain, thunderstorm, storm wind, etc.), sound signals when the anchor is returned, alarm are reproduced.

The simulator allows the trainees to download one exercise for several jobs, and different exercises for all jobs, and also to monitor cadets for different types of exercises.

“NTPro 5000” has a certificate of type approval from the Norwegian classification society Det Norske Veritas, which confirms that the simulator meets the standards of class “A” simulators, created in accordance with the International Convention on the Training and Certification of Seafarers and Watchkeeping, and has a certificate of conformity, issued by the Shipping Register of Ukraine. Thus, it fully meets the requirements for training specialists of the Maritime Guard of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
