Mr. Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council of the NRC, Mr. Erik Svedal, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Norway to Ukraine, and representatives of the Norwegian Refugee Council visited the Stanytsia Luhanska BCP.

The delegation arrived in the eastern part of Ukraine as part of a working visit.

During the visit, the delegates were acquainted with the infrastructure of the Stanytsia Luhanska BCP and the procedure for crossing the demarcation line. The head of the border service department, lieutenant colonel Volodymyr Valchuk, told the visitors about modern technologies used in the implementation of control and verification measures. The new systems provide borderguards with the opportunity to increase the security and speed of control procedures. The employment of X-ray scanners allows you to create more comfortable conditions for people who cross the line of demarcation. These next-generation devices are equipped with X-ray generators, detector modules, mechanical and conveyor constructions, as well as a computer platform with a special keyboard, monitors and a convenient user interface.

Optionally, the scanners can be equipped with an auxiliary program for semi-automatic detection of explosives and drugs, which is an important issue to prevent movement across the line of demarcation of weapons, drugs and more.

Concluding the visit, the delegates thanked the borderguards for international cooperation and openness to dialogue.
