UNHCR Deputy Representative Noel Calhoun reviewed the passage process of individuals across the demarcation line in the Luhansk region.

The delegation, led by Ms. Calhoun, reviewed the operation and reconstruction of the Zolote entry-exit checkpoint. The head of the Luhansk Detachment, Colonel Yurii Petriv, noted that due to the quarantine restrictions, the entry-exit checkpoint was temporarily closed by the decision of the Commander of the Joint Forces. Currently, border guards allow only residents of Katerynivka, Zolote, Orikhove, Boguslavske and Komyshuvakha to pass here around the clock.

The day before, the delegation visited the construction site of the new entry-exit checkpoint in Shchastia. Ms. Noel Calhoun noted that the opening of two more entry-exit checkpoints in the region would significantly improve the humanitarian situation. It will also allow unloading the Stanytsia Luhanska entry-exit checkpoint, which is currently the only one in the Luhansk region where the demarcation line can be crossed.
