During the visit to Chernivetsi region, the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine noted that border guards opened an internal investigation on the fact of using weapon by the servicemen of Chernivtsi Border Guard Detachment.

It should be noted, that border patrol used weapon because of the threat to their life and health.

“At this moment we don’t see any violations in the actions of the border guards. First of all, I’d like to say that the law enforcers used their weapon legally. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that violators try to harm the border guard’s health or even try to kill them. And in the light of the recent anniversary of the tragic death of our serviceman lieutenant colonel Vadym Berezynskyi, who was the Chief of the Border Guard Unit “Dilove”, Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment. I would like to say frankly that it is better to be personally responsible for the excess of jurisdiction by my subordinates than to be at their funeral, God forbid, and explain their mothers why I didn’t save their children.”
