Iron maritime guards went through rehabilitation of hulls, maintenance of engines and technical equipment, as well as periodic technical servicing of armaments.

Hryhorii Kuropiatnykov, a flagship of the Maritime Guard, and three other ships of the Maritime Guard drove out after rehabilitation in pre-holiday days and public holidays to guard borders, went through the drill and precise crew interaction after a long rehabilitation break. Conventional firing exercises were also carried out, the serviceability and standby of the ship-mounted weapons were checked.

Among others ships and boats of the Maritime Guard, two ex-offenders of the border legislation (fishing schooners which were confiscated from poachers and have since that time been a part of the SBGS) have been updated. Henceforth, with upgraded engines and special equipment, ‘Amethyst’ and ‘Onyx’ will become more effective in counteracting poaching, smuggling and other illegal activities at sea.

It is worth noting that within the limits of the Maritime Guard development, about 60 million UAH was allocated in 2019 for maintenance of the combat preparedness of the ship and boat fleet of the State Border Guard Service, which is almost 10 times more than in the previous year.
