The Agency is continuing the reform of regional directorates. The vacancies will strengthen the authorities and border protection units. The units involved in the Joint Forces Operations are top-priority.

Within the framework of the reform, there was a large-scale re-subordination of the state border protection authorities. In particular, Donetsk and Kramatorsk border guard detachments have become the part of the Eastern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service (they were part of Donetsk and Luhansk Regional Directorate earlier). For effective interaction of bodies and divisions of the State Border Guard Service within the Joint Forces of the structure of the Eastern Regional Directorate, an Operational and Military Directorate was established in Kramatorsk.

Changes have also affected the bodies of the State Border Service in other regions of Ukraine. The Kherson and Berdiansk border guard detachments, which were part of the Azov and Black Sea Regional Directorate, are now subordinate to the Southern Regional Directorate.

The area of ​​responsibility of the Western Regional Directorate has also expanded. Now it includes the Lutsk Border Guard Detachment, which had previously been part of the Northern Regional Directorate. Also the Chernihiv and Zhytomyr border guard detachments, which were also part of the Northern Regional Directorate, have already become border guard agencies of central subordination.

“We’d like to bring the management structure to the European standards,” Serhii Deineko has recently commented the purpose of the reform of the State Border Guard Service. He has noted that the management of the bodies and units according to the new manning charts of the territorial border guard authorities will continue to be carefully analyzed. As a result of this analysis, the optimization of the organizational and staff structure can be continued.
