Last year, the State Border Guard detained almost 9,250 illegal migrants while guarding the state border.

More than 8,000 of them are for violating the rules of stay in Ukraine. The largest number of such offenders was found by border guards at airport BCPs (4,340 people). Among them are citizens of Russia (1008), Moldova (872), Azerbaijan (645), Georgia (642), Hungary (623), Turkey (535), Armenia (312) and Romania (278).

In addition, more than 5,000 potential illegal migrants were denied entry during border control procedures. The largest number of refusals was also recorded at airport BCPs - 2960. Among them - citizens of Russia (1477), Turkey (1427), India (272), Moldova (216), Azerbaijan (206), Uzbekistan (162), Israel (145), Tajikistan (141) and Iran (106).

Also, 1,067 illegal migrants were detained for the state border crossing illegally. The main category of offenders were citizens of Moldova (206), Turkey (131), Afghanistan and Russia (62 each BCP), Bangladesh (58), India (56), Syria (55), Algeria (46), Iraq (43), Sri Lanka. Lanka (36) and Romania (31). Of these, 691 illegal migrants were detained at the border with EU countries. The largest number is on the border with Poland (263 people) and Slovakia (217 people). And on the border with the post-Soviet countries, 342 illegal migrants were detained for the same offense, and another 232 people were detained on the border with Moldova.
