The State Border Guard Service constantly implements innovations in the protection of the state border of Ukraine from criminals and external aggression, including the use of the most modern unmanned aerial vehicles.

In order to operate the UAV skillfully, border guards constantly update their skills and pass the annual mandatory professionalism test.

Today, on the basis of the Center for training in the use and operation of unmanned aerial systems of the Main Personnel Training Center, the annual mandatory inspection of personnel who have access to self-operation of helicopter-type unmanned aerial vehicles has been completed. In particular, border guards from Lviv and Chernivtsi border guard detachments took qualifying tests for driving Matrice 200 V2 and DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual quadcopters.

During the inspection, the operators confirm the required level of knowledge of regulations and administrative documents, consider issues related to the organization and implementation of flights, aviation engineering, structure and use of Ukrainian airspace, etc.

Also, during training flights, border guards carry out aerial monitoring of the training area of ​​the state border to identify signs of illegal activities, inspect a certain area to find violators and escort them.

It is worth noting that since the beginning of the year this is the third group of aircraft and helicopter operators that have arrived to confirm their qualifications. In total, more than three dozen operators from five border detachments received “updated” UAV control during this period.
