Servicemen who were mobilized to the ranks of the State Border Guard Service but had no previous service experience were trained at one of the SBGSU training centers.

More than thirty defenders and one female defender were trained in maritime, firearms, tactical and intelligence training. The newly minted border guards practiced shooting, grenade throwing, developed endurance, tested their ability to overcome difficulties, great physical and psychological stress associated with the performance of tasks, expanded their knowledge, and courageously and steadfastly overcame their fears.

The bigger part of the course took place in the field, during which the border guards studied and performed actions as part of a group, squad, or platoon.

‘My decision was obvious - today I have to join the defence of the country. We will win, but it is not enough to wish, we must act. People are only afraid of what they do not know. I think that knowledge will conquer all fears. There is still a lot of work to be done, but the foundation laid is solid,’ summarized Alla Skaskevych, maritime border guard.

The practical highlight of the course was the fight for the ship's survivability, which was realized in conditions as close to emergency as possible. The defenders practiced coordinated actions of the crew using rescue equipment to fight localized fires and trained skills to counteract the volumetric development of the fire.

In addition to the fight for the ship's survivability, the mobilized personnel also learned the basics of tactical medicine.

Trained, motivated and inspired by their first successes, the border guards went to their regular units to hone their skills as part of their crews.
