The border guards of the Odesa Maritime Guard Detachment collected and delivered a selection of books, including Ukrainian classics, fiction and contemporary publications, to their comrades-in-arms who are currently undergoing treatment in a departmental

Employees of Odesa Children's Library No. 23, with whom the maritime border guards have long had friendly, warm relations, were also happy to join the charity work. They also handed over a series of books and amulets made for the defenders by the young visitors of the library.

The soldiers were especially touched by the fact that the colleagues and ordinary citizens who handed over the books wrote their wishes, words of support and respect for future readers.

The donated literature, amulets and sweet gifts will help our soldiers recover as soon as possible physically and emotionally.

Communicating with his colleagues, the deputy commander of the Odesa Detachment Maritime Guard, Captain 2nd Class Andriy Tur, said: “Nowadays, with the development of various gadgets, we often use them to search for information, but sometimes we still want to pick up and read a book. I also took advantage of this opportunity and literally read one of them during the night – “Bandera’s short stories”. Thanks to the colorful piece of work, I also enriched my knowledge about the historical figure of Stepan Andriiovych Bandera. I think that those of you who will read this book will also get a lot of emotions. We joined this project with enthusiasm and are confident that each of you will find something interesting and informative in this selection.

Unfortunately, the school library in my hometown, where I borrowed and read books for 11 years, was recently destroyed. My heart was breaking apart when I saw the photos of the completely bombed school and its library with only one wall remained intact where burnt books were scattered around. It was very hard to watch... But the scums who invaded our country will definitely be punished for all the crimes they commit on our native land.”

The brothers-in-arms thanked the border guards for the sweet gifts and amulets, and especially for the books. They appreciated that reading literature will help improve their leisure time and speed up the process of recovery and rehabilitation.

The Ukrainians are strong and invincible nation that has its heroes, writers and poets. A nation that reads, even in difficult times of war, and cannot be defeated!

We wish our comrades a speedy recovery and let's move towards victory together!
