Law enforcement officers eliminated the channel for transporting people across the border and detained the organizer

The organizer of the channel for smuggling people across the border and her accomplices were detained by a joint interdepartmental group consisting of employees of the Main Operative-Investigative Department of the Mukachevo Border Detachment, the Department of Investigating Particularly Serious Crimes of the Investigative Department of the State Security Service of Ukraine in Zakarpattia Oblast and the SBU in Zakarpattia Oblast.

In April 2024, a 34-year-old resident of the village of Zarechka, Khust district, along with four men whom she tried to smuggle to Hungary, were detained on the outskirts of the village of Velyka Byygan. Transcarpathia planned to receive 31,000 US dollars from its clients for illegal equipment.

The woman was helped by two of her accomplices - a 21-year-old resident of the village of Pidhirne and a 23-year-old resident of the village of Zagattia, who drove potential "clients" to the border.

Within the framework of criminal proceedings, opened on the grounds of the commission of a crime, provided for in Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, initiated on the basis of the materials of the Main Operative-Investigative Department of the Mukachevo Border Detachment, authorized searches were conducted at the place of residence of the persons involved and things that could become evidence of the illegal activities of the smugglers were seized.

The organizer and her accomplices have already been charged with suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Illegal transportation of persons across the state border".

Investigations are ongoing.

If the suspects are found guilty in court, they face seven to nine years in prison.
