About 30,000 packs of cigarettes without excise tax stamps were discovered by law enforcement officers in Transcarpathian Region.

The offense was exposed in the framework of the open criminal proceedings initiated by the officers of the main operative and investigative department of Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment.

Law enforcement officers conducted several searches at the places of residence of those involved in the case within Rakhiv district.

As a result of operational activities, there were 57 boxes of tobacco products discovered. Most of these boxes were without excise duty stamps. The perpetrators planned to illegally move cigarettes across the state border. 11 mobile phones, draft records, a tracker device and a rifle were also found and confiscated.

The investigations are still ongoing.

Several members of criminal gangs were served with summonses to appear at the Rakhiv Territorial Recruitment Center.

The measures were carried out by a joint interagency group consisting of employees of the main operative and investigative department and the mobile unit of the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment and employees of the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Mukachevo District Prosecutor’s Office.
