On the third Saturday of May, Ukraine celebrates Europe Day. By the way, the State Border Guard Service is much more European integrated than some people think.

Border guards from the European Union can be found not only in the western parts of the Ukrainian border, but also on the border with Belarus, Moldova and Russia, as well as in the international airports of our country.

Nowadays, Frontex experts from Spain, Germany, Lithuania, Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic and France are working at the highway and air border crossing points on the state border of Ukraine within the framework of the joint operation “Coordination Points”.

For example, a specialist with an EU flag in uniform can be found at the Novi Yarylovychi border crossing point in the Chernihiv region. Frenchman Jean Michel Marcon (pictured) will work on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border until the end of this year.

Jean Michel is a current employee of FRONTEX (European Agency for the protection of the external borders of the European Union) with 20 years of experience in the French border police. On a daily basis, the expert is involved in conducting the second line check, operations aimed at combating illegal migration, detection of stolen vehicles and violators with problematic documents.
