The repulse by Ukrainian defenders of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation, which began more than a year ago, became possible, in particular, thanks to international exercises organized by Ukraine's foreign partners.

Military personnel of the Luhansk border guard detachment completed a 5-week training course of "Basic Military Training" at the Infantry Academy of the Army of the Kingdom of Spain, the city of Toledo.

The training course program included 5 training modules: basic instruction, first medical training in combat, defense, offensive, combat shooting.

"Prior to the start of training, the program included only basic training. In Spain, this program is designed for 9 months, but due to short deadlines, it was compressed as much as possible. And already on the 3rd day of classes, the instructors saw that the level of training of Ukrainian border guards is much higher than the program provides, so during the course the program was changed," said the commander of the combined unit, Maksym Vychavka.

During the training course, the participants were introduced to the main types of weapons and combat equipment of the army of the Kingdom of Spain. The host party provided the personnel with the necessary clothes, equipment and means for high-quality training of students.

Practical classes were held on the territory of the military training ground. Both open territory and specialized tactical fields were used to practice defensive operations.

Taking into account that the servicemen of the Army of the Kingdom of Spain have no experience of conducting combat operations, with the exception of participation in peacekeeping operations, during the course, an analysis and discussion of the training program was carried out and recommendations were made to make adjustments to the training process considering the specifics of combat operations on the territory of Ukraine.

The acquired knowledge and skills are already being integrated into the combat and special training program of the detachment.

The representatives of the host party noted the high level of discipline and self-sacrifice of the soldiers of the State Border Guard Service.
