The Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine discussed the development of strategic communications in the system of subjects of integrated border management of Ukraine.

The Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine discussed the development of strategic communications in the system of subjects of integrated border management of Ukraine.

The discussion took place in cooperation with the EU Advisory Mission (EUAM). In addition to border guards and representatives of the EUAM Mission, it was attended by authorized specialists of state customs and migration services and international development partners: embassies of the US, Canada, Germany and Romania, FRONTEX, IOM, UNODC, EU4IBM, DCAF, EUBAM, OSCE.

The meeting of the Border Management Support Group and the Border and Migration Management Subgroup was held within the framework of the Joint Civil Security Sector Reform Initiative of Ukraine.

During the opening of the event, Major General Volodymyr BONDAR, co-chair of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, noted that integrated border management contributes to the implementation of contemporary principles of state border protection, in accordance with European best practices. Co-Chair of the EUAM Michael STORM welcomed the expanded format of participants from the Ukrainian side. He stressed that according to the EUAM, the State Border Guard Service is currently the most reformed department in Ukraine.

During the meeting, participants had the opportunity to discuss the current state and needs for capacity development of departments in the field of strategic communications. The participants of the meeting noted that the development of StratCom is one of the priority areas of development programs of each of the involved agencies, and therefore it needs increased attention from both the Government and development partners.

Following the meeting, the participants agreed to continue and increase cooperation.
