INTERNATIONAL CHANNEL OF ILLEGAL MIGRATION OF PEOPLE FROM SOUTHEAST ASIA TO THE EU WAS LIQUIDATED IN LUHANSK REGION

Currently, the materials of the pre-trial investigation with the indictment have been sent to court in order to prosecute all members of the criminal group.

Thanks to joint activities carried out by border guards of Luhansk border guard detachment named after the Hero of Ukraine Colonel Yevhen Pikus under the procedural guidance of Luhansk Regional Prosecutor's Office and a pre-trial investigation by the National Police Investigation Department of Luhansk oblast, the international channel of illegal migration of Russians is prevented from transiting through the territory of Ukraine to the countries of the European Union and further illegal transfer of more than twenty illegal migrants across the state border of Ukraine bypassing the border crossing points to the countries of the European Union.

The international channel of illegal migration operated from May to November 2020. The pre-trial investigation documented 8 cases of illegal transportation of 25 illegal migrants - citizens of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan

In particular, during the investigation it was found out that an organized criminal group with transnational relations was involved in the criminal "business", which since May 2020 had committed a number of crimes as for illegal transportation of people across the state border of Ukraine. Every case of criminal activity of an organized criminal group was documented in accordance with the established legal procedure.

At the final stage of operational search activities, border guards of Luhansk border guard detachment named after the Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Yevhen Pikus, detained one of the members of an organized criminal group in the Novopskov district with two illegal migrants (citizens of Sri Lanka).

On the basis of the obtained evidence and pre-documented facts of criminal activity, the criminal and four other people (2 citizens of Ukraine and 2 citizens of the Russian Federation) involved in illegal smuggling of foreign nationals across the state border of Ukraine using the above-mentioned “criminal channel” in Luhansk region suspicion of a crime commission was reported. The Russians are wanted.
