Given the potential risks of aggravation of the situation, measures are underway to strengthen the Ukrainian-Belarusian border and consolidate the efforts of all forces and means involved.

As previously reported, the main stage of the joint special border operation "Polissia" began on the evening of September 23. A three-tier management system with an Interdepartmental Coordination Headquarters, regional headquarters and coordination groups has been established to manage the operation. At the staff meeting yesterday, the representatives of all involved entities once again discussed the procedure for implementing joint actions. In addition, taking into account the experience of EU countries, the development of regulatory documents is underway, which will allow to respond quickly and efficiently to current threats at the border.

As part of the operation in the border areas and at the border, joint patrols with representatives of the National Guard and the National Police are on duty, additional checkpoints have been set up and access roads to the border are being patrolled. Air monitoring of the state border line is provided.

We will note that at present certain reserves in all areas bordering on Belarus are strengthened and arrangement of places of their dislocations proceeds. Measures are also being taken to strengthen the border in the areas of probable offenses, for which the necessary engineering teams have been formed.

Large-scale measures to strengthen the capacity to respond to unusual situations continue. In particular, preparations are underway for a joint tactical special training, in which border guards with representatives of the National Guard, National Police, Armed Forces of Ukraine, SES conduct the necessary training of governing bodies, coordination of all forces to localize crises and emergencies at the border.

It will be recalled that yesterday the Government allocated almost UAH 214 million to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defense to strengthen the protection of the state border with the Republic of Belarus and strengthen the state's defense capabilities. This will strengthen vulnerable areas of the border and provide additional defense forces.
