Criminal proceedings were initiated based on the materials of operatives of the State Border Guard Service back in June of the last year.

Operatives of the Volyn border guard detachment in cooperation with employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations and investigators of the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Kovel district prosecutor's office with the support of the border special unit "DOZOR" stopped the activities of an organized criminal group that organized a scheme for illegal transporting men of conscription age across the Ukrainian-Polish border.

Local residents of Kovel District, doctors from the military medical commissions, and IT experts who forged all kinds of seals and certificates, including deferment from the draft and conclusions about unfitness for military service in wartime, came into view.

Further, the evaders, using perfectly legal documents, left the state without any obstacles. In total, the criminals managed to smuggle more than 30 people across the border illegally. For such services, violators paid to organizers from 5 to 10 thousand US dollars.

Law enforcement officers carried out a colossal amount of work on documentation and collection of evidence regarding illegal activities. Having a sufficient evidence base, interdepartmental groups detained the main participants in the criminal proceedings and conducted authorized searches. As a result, significant amounts of cash, forged documents, forms, bank cards, telephones and office equipment were confiscated. At the same time, law enforcement officers found and confiscated weapons and narcotics in the homes and vehicles of the criminal group members.
