The law enforcement officers have arrested two residents of Rahiv district who planned to smuggle two conscripted men across the Ukrainian-Romanian border.

The interagency group consisting of personnel from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) in Zakarpattia region, and the police department in Rahiv district of the National Police of Ukraine apprehended “businessmen”, who specialized in the illegal transportation of men of conscription age across the border.

As part of the pre-trial investigation in the criminal case opened for attempted provision of unlawful financial reward in the amount of $8,000, law enforcement officers detained two offenders with their "clients" in the village of Velykyi Bychkiv, who were promised to be transported across the Ukrainian-Romanian border outside the established checkpoints.

If the guilt of the men is proven in court, they face imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years.
