A 19-year-old man from Kharkiv, who intended to cross the Tysa River to illegally reach neighboring Romania, was detained yesterday by border guards of the Dilove border guard division of Mukachevo boder guard detachment.

The young man could not give a clear answer about the purpose of his stay at the border area, but later he admitted that he was planning to cross the state border illegally. The final goal of the Kharkiv citizen’s was illegal trip to Germany, where, according to the young man, a sports ballroom dance competition will be held in the next few days.

In order to realize his intentions, the dancer got the contacts of dealers who, for $2,500, promised him to organize an unimpeded crossing of the border by river. The ferrymen preferred to keep silent about the danger of the proposed way of crossing the border and the number of drowned people in Tysa, so the boy did not know how difficult the obstacle would be for him to overcome.

Neither the young man nor his relatives knew anything about the intentions of the boy, because one of the instructions received from the organizers of the transfer was to remain silent about the method of crossing the border. If the boy had not been stopped by the border guards, he, with a high degree of probability, could have been added to the sad statistics of those who drowned.

Currently, operatives of border guard detachment are establishing the circle of persons involved in the organization of the young man's illegal trip.

We once again warn all those who wish to illegally leave the territory of Ukraine not to accept the offers of the organizers of the transfer, who disregard the life and health of their clients.

We inform you that the high mountain areas of Transcarpathia are already covered with snow. The air temperature drops below 0°C. The water level in the rivers is high with rapid currents. Illegal crossing of the border under such conditions can lead to death or serious consequences.
