In the Lviv region, 10 unmanned aerial vehicles were found, which were probably used to smuggle counterfeit tobacco products across the border.

Unmanned aerial vehicles of aircraft and multicopter types were found during the criminal proceedings on illegal transactions with excise stamps (Part 1, item 199 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). In particular, authorized searches were conducted in places of possible storage of counterfeit excisable goods and means of their illegal movement across the border. Investigative and operative measures were carried out by border guards of the Western Regional Department and Lviv BG Detachment with the participation of National Police officers under the procedural guidance of the Volodymyr-Volyn Local Prosecutor’s Office. Investigative actions continue.

It is worth noting that border guards are increasingly trying to reveal smuggle goods, usually cigarettes, with the help of drones. Since the beginning of the year, 12 more such drones have been detained at the border.
