Officials of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in cooperation with the National Police systematically counter the crimes of human trafficking and the use of women in sexual services. Only during the last week, two channels which were used to transport Ukrainian women to Russia have been revealed in the course of joint police special measures. One of the channels was blocked yesterday.

While tracking the ways to traffic people across the border, the investigators of Sumy Border Guard Detachment got information about the signs of human trafficking. The cooperation with other Border Guard Detachments and the Human Trafficking Related Crimes Office of the General Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk Region was immediately organized.

Soon, officials of the operational and investigation unit of Kharkiv Border Guard Detachment and the National Police discovered 3 citizens of Ukraine at Hoptivka Border Crossing Point. They were to go to Russia by bus "Kryvyi Riv - Moscow". Natives of Dnipropetrovsk Region aged 29, 26 and 17 told border guards that they were to be transported to the neighboring country and to be further used in sex business. They pointed to the person involved in the organization of their "journey". They refused to cross the border.

At the same time, based on the information received, the police in the city of Dnepropetrovsk detained the recruiter of the girls.

Border guards sent the notification according to Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Human trafficking or other illegal activities towards humans) to the General Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk Region.

It should be noted that at the beginning of last week, as the result of the set of actions, the citizen of Russia who tried to traffic 5 citizens of Ukraine from our country was detained at Hoptivka Border Crossing Point. The Russian man recruited women to provide sexual services on the territory of the Russian Federation.
