A Ukrainian man born in 1981 arrived at the border on foot. The car in which he arrived was still waiting nearby.

Eleven people were involved in the shooting in November 2018, nine of whom have already been detained by the police. Recently, with the help of border guards from the Hirsk BG unit, the police detained the tenth suspect.

The tenth suspect appeared at the Senkivka BCP in the Chernihiv region.

During the inspection of his documents and as the result of the interrogation, the border guards established the fact that he violated the procedure for entering and leaving the TOT of Ukraine.

But, it is only the beginning of the story.

Later, during a search of his identity in departmental databases, border guards found out that the citizen had been wanted in Ukraine since 2018 on suspicion of committing a serious crime, namely premeditated murder.

The accomplice, the driver of the car with Ukrainian registration, in which the wanted Ukrainian arrived at the border, did not know anything about the adventures of his friend at the checkpoint. After a while, he also was going to enter Ukraine, but by car.

Border guards were monitoring the situation and realized that the men were acquainted and connected with each other. In particular, border guards found out that the driver of the car (a citizen of Ukraine born in 1947) and the man wanted for the murder had been traveling together and on July 17 this year violated the order of entry/ exit from TOT. They left for the Russian Federation through the Marynivka checkpoint closed by the Government of Ukraine. The accomplice driver offered a bribe of 500 hryvnias to the border guards in order to avoid responsibility for the offense.

In addition, the police found out that the wanted man was involved in a shooting that took place at the car wash in Lutsk in 2018. Then as a result of the incident one person died, two people were injured.

Before handing them over to the police, the border guards brought the both men to administrative responsibility according to Article 204-2 ‘Violation of the order of entry into and exit from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine’; as for the bribe-giver, a report of a crime according to Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ‘Offer, promise or provision of improper benefits to an official’ was sent.
