In Bucovina, border guards prevented the smugglers’ deal when they discovered the place of storage of tobacco products, which were to be illegally transported to Romania in the future.

The border guards, together with the employees of the investigation department of the National Police, under the procedural guidance of the Chernivtsi regional prosecutor's office, seized 40 packs of cigarettes as a result of an authorized search of a private warehouse.

A day earlier, operatives of the 31st border detachment had discovered a warehouse with tobacco in the area of the Border Service department "Seliatyn" and blocked it. The place was located in a hard-to-reach area of the Carpathians, on the outskirts of Halytsivka settlement, Vyzhnytskyi district, Chernivtsi region.

As a result of the inspection, the law enforcement officers found more than 19.7 thousand packs of cigarettes without Ukrainian excise tax stamps. Apparently, the tobacco products were prepared for further transportation across the state border.

After completing the necessary documents, the seized tobacco was handed over to the police. Measures to establish all the circumstances of the offense are ongoing.
