Four foreigners and their alleged guide were detained by police as part of a joint border operation “Carpathians – 2021”.

The operatives of the Separate BCP "Kyiv" learned about the preparations for the relocation of a group of illegal immigrants from Ukraine to Slovakia. According to them, foreigners were detained in Lviv, from where they were to be transported by car to Transcarpathia.

Border guards organized a number of control measures and cooperation with the patrol police. Additional border guard details were posted at the site of the alleged border violation.

As a result of the measures taken at midnight on the outskirts of the Transcarpathian village of Kostryno, in the Velykobereznyansky district, law enforcement officers stopped a car with Ukrainian registration. A 28-year-old Tajik citizen was driving an “Opel” car, carrying four undocumented passengers who identified themselves as Uzbek citizens. So far, foreigners have been detained. The detainees were apprehended by servicemen of the Chop Border Guard Detachment together with operatives of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service, soldiers of the “Dozor” mobile detachment and officers of the Patrol Police and the Migration Police.

So far, the foreigners have been taken to the border guard unit. Measures are being taken to establish the identities of the passengers and the circumstances of the offense. The competent authorities shall decide on the commencement of criminal proceedings.
