Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhii Deineko and the Director General of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Department Elmar Vaher held an online meeting.

Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhii Deineko and the Director General of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Department Elmar Vaher held an online meeting.

During the meeting, the active cooperation between the border agencies of both countries was noted, as well as the readiness to participate in joint activities on the preliminary approval of the Cooperation Development Plan for 2021-2022 was confirmed.

As part of further cooperation, the two sides plan to share best practices in the field of border security, risk analysis and information exchange, training of Maritime Guard units and cooperation of investigative staff.

Serhii Deineko thanked for the initiative and readiness of the Estonian side to strengthen the capabilities of the Maritime Guard of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine by conducting a series of trainings and internships in the Baltic Sea. It should be noted that the joint exercises were to take place this summer, but due to the pandemic, the events were postponed until next year.

Following the online meeting, the representatives of the parties agreed to sign the Cooperation Development Plan for 2021-2022, as well as to intensify the exchange of information on possible channels of illegal migration and drug trafficking.
