The parties exchanged information on the situation on the common section of the state border and analyzed the implementation of bilateral agreements.

During the meeting, the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Serhii Deineko, familiarized the Moldovan delegation with the tasks which the State Border Guard Service performs in the context of countering russian aggression and the place of border guards in the country’s security and defense sector. He thanked the Moldovan colleagues for their support to Ukraine.

“Together we are countering the aggressor country on both sides of the border; we together have chosen democracy and a civilized course of development. I am confident that the friendly relations between the border guards of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova will continue to develop,” said the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

In turn, the head of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova, Rossian Vasiloi, noted that the border guards of the two countries have experience of effective cooperation in various areas and it will be maintained at a high level.

The heads of the border guard agencies discussed in detail the state of border security and joint steps to counteract offenses and illegal activities.

The focus was on identifying smuggling schemes and preventing illegal border crossings by citizens. It was emphasized that the exchange of information should be stepped up to joint exposure of criminal groups.

The Ukrainian and Moldovan border guards did not ignore the issue of joint control and functioning of checkpoints. It was noted that, despite the difficult situation caused by the armed aggression of the russian federation in Ukraine, border crossing operations were carried out rhythmically.

The delegations also discussed further development and ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, taking into account the European integration course of Ukraine and Moldova.
