In order to ensure reliable protection of the state borders, border guards of the Chop Border Guard Detachment take a number of measures to detect and prevent attempts to commit offenses. For this purpose, border patrols in cooperation with officers of operational and search units carry out verification activities not only near the state border, but also in places where possible offenders may be detected and on the highways near the border.

Thanks to such measures, yesterday morning, border guards of the "Uzhhorod" Border Guard Division together with operatives managed to detect a group of people preparing to commit an offense. Two residents of Odesa and one resident of Cherkasy region met at the railway station of the regional center of Transcarpathia and developed an action plan to get to the border.

By the way, one of them, a 34-year-old resident of Cherkasy, turned out to be an "experienced" offender. This was his third attempt to cross the border illegally. Moreover, for the previous attempt, he was released after administrative detention just a few hours ago.

During the verification measures, the other two men, both from Odesa, first tried to convince law enforcement officers that they had come to the border for tourism, but later admitted that they were actually trying to get to the EU in search of better living conditions. So the men decided to cross the border on the outskirts of Uzhhorod, using a cell phone navigator.

The detainees were taken to the border guard unit. The decision in the case will be made by the court.
