Frontex agency briefing was given in Poland

The overall objective of the joint operation is to strengthen integrated border management and to improve operational interaction at the external borders of the European Union.

Representatives of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine participated in a briefing organized by the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX) in the framework of the joint operation “Focal Points/ Coordination Points. AIR Borders 2020” on January 21-22, 2020 in Warsaw (Poland).

The overall objective of the joint operation is to strengthen integrated border management and to improve operational interaction at the external borders of the European Union.

FRONTEX, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, has presented a series of activities to be undertaken at the European Union air border crossing points in 2020 as a part of the joint operation.

Coordinators of each focal point - representatives of airports of EU member-states as well as other countries participating in the joint operation from January to May 2020 - took part in the international event.

The delegation from Ukraine was represented by border guards from the air border crossing points "Lviv", "Boryspil", "Zhuliany", "Odesa" and "Kharkiv" - the airports of Ukraine, which will also take part in the operation.

Participants of the briefing received comprehensive information on the tasks and principles of work of international experts who will be involved in joint operations at international airports, including Ukrainian airports, during 2020.

The concept of the joint operation "Focal Points/ Coordination Points. AIR Borders 2020” means that the EU border crossing points will be enhanced by experts from different EU countries and adjacent countries.

Representatives of the border agencies of the EU countries will also arrive at the Ukrainian air border crossing points.
