Four groups of border violators were detained near the border with Slovakia and Hungary

Border guards of Chop Border Guard Detachment recently detained two groups of Ukrainian citizens who intended to illegally cross the state border in Transcarpathian region.

Four of them were trying to get to Slovakia. The men made an attempt to bypass the border guards who were carrying out their duty near the village of Palad Komarivtsi in Uzhhorod district. However, the offenders failed to hide from law enforcement officers. The border patrol acting in cooperation with the operational officers spotted a group of people moving towards the border and subsequently detained them at a distance of half a kilometer from the state border. The strangers had Ukrainian passports. All of them were local residents, the youngest man was 19 years old and the oldest was 30 years old.

The other group of five people intended to get to Hungary bypassing the border crossing points. They were detained on the outskirts of the village of Solovka. A local resident informed the border guards about the arrival of the strangers into the border area. Therefore, a rapid response team was immediately sent to the indicated area. The offenders were also Ukrainians aged between 18 and 39 years. During the interview they admitted their intentions to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.

In addition to it, there were two more groups of men liable for military service detained by the border guards of Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment. The men intended to illegally cross the border to enter Hungary.

Three male residents of Mukachevo liable for military service were apprehended by the border guards of Vylok Border Guard Division acting in cooperation with operational officers at the distance of 350 meters from the state border. The men did not have either cell phones or any personal belongings with them. One of the men did not have any documents. The detainees could not explain the purpose of their stay near the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. Therefore, they were taken to the border guard division to clarify all the circumstances of the violation.

Four more residents of Transcarpathian region were detained by the border guards of Luzhanka Border Guard Division. During the verification of information received from the operational officers of the border guard detachment, the border guards spotted a vehicle on the outskirts of the village of Choma 700 meters from the state border. The border guards observed four men getting out of the vehicle and heading toward the border with Hungary. The men were apprehended. They did not hide their intentions to illegally cross the border. Currently, the operational officers are investigating whether the driver who brought the violators to the border was involved in people smuggling.

The offenders were taken to the border guard units in order to clarify all the circumstances of the violations and draw up protocols on administrative offenses.
