Three of Ukrainian nationals and a foreigner tried to bribe personnel of the State Border Guard Service at the border crossing points.

Three of Ukrainian nationals and a foreigner tried to bribe personnel of the State Border Guard Service at the border crossing points.

Citizens of Ukraine, returning from abroad via the Shehyni and Rava-Ruska BCPs, offered 500 hryvnias and 100 zlotys of illegal benefit for unimpeded passage across the border and assistance in avoiding self-isolation (observation). And a Moldovan citizen who was traveling to Ukraine via Yahodyn BCP offered 100 euros for “solving” a similar issue and entering Ukraine without obstacles.

Border guards refused to take bribes and sent a notification to the National Police to enter information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations on the grounds of Article 369 of the Criminal Code (Offer, promise or providing illegal benefit to an official).

It should be noted that the Border Guard Agency takes a number of measures to combat corruption. One of them - under the slogan “Border guard, do not be afraid to report on the facts of corruption at the border!” - started on October 26 and will run until October 30. The action is aimed at raising the level of awareness of border guards to prevent and expose possible corruption in the Agency and forming an active public position among servicemen and personnel of the SBGSU and strengthening the permanent motivation of border guards for conscious and virtuous behaviour.
