Three groups of illegals and accomplices of the crime were detained during a 24-hour period by the border guards of the Mukacheve, Chop and Lviv detachments.

Two illegal migrants from Afghanistan and their guides were detained by a joint interdepartmental group of operatives of the State Border Guard Service, a patrol from the Dilove borderguard division of the Mukacheve detachment and representatives of the National Police.

As part of the criminal proceedings, law enforcement officers stopped a Lithuanian-registered Opel. Besides the driver, a citizen of Ukraine, there were three other people in the car - one also our countryman and two foreigners without documents, they identified themselves as citizens of Afghanistan. Their nationality is currently being verified. The policemen found that with the help of guides, the foreigners planned to cross the border illegally and enter EU countries.

There are signs of a crime in the actions of the accomplices. If convicted, Ukrainians face 7 to 9 years in prison.

In addition, the border guards of the Chop borderguard detachment found two citizens of Uzbekistan who intended to cross the Ukrainian-Slovak border outside the border crossing points. The offenders were detained according to operative information near the municipality of Kostryno in Velykobereznyanskyi district. The border guards found out that these foreigners arrived in Ukraine in accordance with the established procedure with the subsequent intention to enter the EU countries illegally. The detainees will be prosecuted for attempting to cross the state border by a group of people.

Finally, a border patrol of the Hrushiv borderguard division of the Lviv borderguard detachment near the municipality of Nahachiv stopped a minibus carrying four Indian citizens. Foreigners had expired temporary residence permits in Ukraine. The detainees will be prosecuted.
