A group of illegal immigrants consisting of seven people and one alleged “scout” were detained by border guards within the frontier.

The first person to come to the attention of border guards was an Indian citizen who was moving towards the border. He was first noticed by a local resident, who informed the District Inspector of Porubnoye Division. A response team left for the specified area, and detained a foreigner a few hundred meters from the Ukrainian-Romanian border. The latter, most likely, conducted reconnaissance of the area in order to further cross the border with the entire group of foreigners.

Subsequently, military personnel of the operational unit of the detachment on the outskirts of the locality of Turiatka, Chernivtsi District, detained seven more foreigners.

It is worth noting that the detainees, who were between 20 and 30 years old, did not have any documents with them. Five “tourists” identified themselves as citizens of India, and two more as citizens of Nepal. They were stopped a few kilometers from the state border.

During the inspection, it turned out that all men arrived in Ukraine legally, for the purpose of studying and finding employment in the capital.

Currently, all detainees are in the temporary detention center of Chernivtsi Border Guard Detachment. All the circumstances of the offense are being investigated. The decision concerning the future fate of the foreigners will be taken by the court.
