Recently at the Luzhanka border crossing point, operative and investigation officers of the Chop Border Guard Detachment together with agents of the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv region stopped an attempt to illegally import a consignment of medicaments containing drugs into Ukraine.

A Transcarpathian man, who was reasonably suspected of cross-border illegal activities, came to the attention of law enforcement officers. In order to prevent the crime, the operatives of the Chop Border Guard Detachment informed officers at BCPs about a possible attempt to import drugs from Hungary to Ukraine.

At the initiative of Chop Border Guard Detachment operatives, a thorough search of a Skoda Octavia car, which arrived at the Luzhanka border crossing point to enter Ukraine last night, was carried out. In the structural voids of the car, law enforcement officers found 3461 pills "Subutex" containing the drug “Buprenorphine”. They were hidden from control in the roof, rear seat, doors and in the steering column of the car. The total cost of such a medical drug on the black market is almost 1, 4 million USD.

Currently, investigative actions under Part 2 of Article 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors or counterfeit drugs” are carried out.
