The operations staff of the Chop Border Guard Detachment detected the illegal movement of tobacco products channel across the state border of Ukraine   using the unmanned aerial vehicles.

This weekend, on the outskirt of Chop, border guards of the main operative-search department of the Chop Border Guard detachment caught a group of four offenders trying to smuggle a consignment of cigarettes from Ukraine to Slovakia. They tried to smuggle in tobacco with the help of a radio-controlled aircraft. The offenders were exposed during the direct launch of the drone from a specially designed launcher.

Next to the detainees and an unmanned aerial vehicle, border guards found two cars, tobacco products, intended for movement across the border. A diesel generator, a laptop with navigation software, a radio antenna and rechargeable batteries were also found.

The National Police was informed about this fact. Drones, cigarettes and additional equipment were confiscated as a means of committing an offense. Currently, the staff of the competent authorities is studying the qualification of the terminated offense and the adoption of procedural decisions.
