According to the information of separate internal security department for the Southern Regional Directorate, Military Prosecutors of Belgorod-Dniester garrison of Southern Region of Ukraine submitted information to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations as to the criminal offense under Part. 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine in January this year.

Yesterday, the investigations were conducted as part of criminal proceedings at Maiaky Border Crossing Point in Odessa Region. The operational support and documenting of the illegal activities were carried out by the joint group of internal security of the State Border Guard Service and Special Task Force of General Department for Countering Corruption and Organized Crime of the State Security Service of Ukraine in Odessa Region, under the procedural leadership of the Military Prosecutor of Belgorod-Dniester garrison.

During the inspection on the territory of the Border Crossing Point, 30 USD, 20 lei of RM and 2,520 UAH were found and some of them were marked with special fluorescent paint.

Under pressure of the evidence, one border guard inspector made a deal with the investigation on the recognition of guilt and confessed that he had received a bribe in the amount of 1,000 UAH from a citizen of Moldova to assist in her entering the territory of Ukraine.

The offense is currently under investigation and all the circumstances of it are being substantiated.

It should be noted that one of the basic principles of the State Border Guard Service is openness, transparency and dialogue with society. The management of the service does not intend to conceal any illegal and corruption activities of border guards. The Ukrainian community should be well informed not only about the positive achievements, but also the shameful actions of border guards.

Nowadays, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine continues to clean its ranks of corrupt officials. Only taking such offensive measures will lead to positive developments on this thorny path.
