The joint special border operation “Polissia” has lasted for a month.

It is coordinated by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and is conducted jointly with the National Guard, the National Police, the Armed Forces, the Security Service, the State Emergency Service and other involved reserves and runs within five oblasts bordering on Belarus.

The main task of the operation is to ensure security in the border areas and directly on the border of Ukraine with Belarus, in particular, to increase the capacity to respond quickly to attempts to violate the state border by migrants.

For this reason, the reserves of the State Border Guard Service, the National Guard, and the National Police are located in the border areas. In case of a sharp change in the situation, the possibility of operational arrival of reserves to any part of the border within 30-60 minutes has been worked out. The use of helicopters, automobiles and special equipment is envisaged for this purpose.

As part of the operation, mechanisms have been worked out to respond to the aggravation of the situation, which provide for the organization of cooperation between law enforcement agencies, local authorities and the public.

This process received financial and material support from the government and local authorities, which significantly intensified the work on the engineering equipment of the state border.

Aviation, drones, as well as technical means of surveillance are actively used to guard the border.

No violations of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border outside the checkpoints were recorded during the operation. Only one attempt to enter Ukraine by 15 foreigners from the Middle East, who could not confirm the purpose of their arrival in our country, was recorded at the border crossing points.

Attempts by hostile propaganda to compromise the activities carried out as part of Operation “Polissia” were also recorded. In particular, there were several attempts to spread fake information about the alleged detention and execution of illegal groups by the Ukrainian militarymen. This information was promptly identified and refuted.
