Attempted illegal cross-border transportation of tobacco products was discovered by Chop border guards at Pavlovo railway BCP

During an inspection of a freight train traveling from Ukraine to Slovakia, border guards detected external signs that indicated a possible use of the vehicle for illegal transportation of goods or items.

Therefore, the border guards decided to conduct a more thorough inspection of the train. Following a more thorough inspection, border guards in cooperation with customs officials found several boxes of tobacco products without Ukrainian excise hidden inside the consignment of ore in a freight carriage. Currently, there is an investigation to identify individuals involved in smuggling activities. 756 packs of smuggled cigarettes were confiscated by customs officials. The estimated value of the tobacco products will be determined later.
