Combating the illegal circulation of weapons, ammunition and explosives

OSCE representatives handed over equipment to meet the needs of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in carrying out tasks on the western and southern borders.

As part of the implementation of the joint international technical assistance project with the OSCE "Support of the State Border Service of Ukraine in preventing and combating illegal trafficking of weapons, ammunition and explosives", border guards took part in a training to raise the level of awareness of the personnel in the field of handling explosive objects and substances in the context of combating the illegal circulation of weapons, ammunition and explosives. A national expert on explosives took part in the training.

The training was a continuation of the joint activities to combat the illegal circulation of weapons, ammunition and explosives.

During the event, the OSCE representatives handed over the equipment to meet the needs of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in carrying out its tasks on the western and southern borders.

In particular, devices for non-destructive inspection of vehicles and digital endoscopes were obtained to strengthen border control.

In addition, canine units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine received quadcopters and sets of odor substitutes for explosives. The specified equipment will be used to train dog handlers and service dogs in accordance with the best European practices.
