The government of Canada gave the Odessa Clinical Hospital of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine the newest digital diagnostic system «CALYPSO» on Tuesday, 13 June. The equipment was given in the framework of joint international technical assistance project "Strengthening of border security of Ukraine."

The handover ceremony was attended by the Head of State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Canada in Ukraine Roman Vashchuk, the Head of Health Department of State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Valentyn Volokha, the Chief of the Odessa Clinical Hospital of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Oksana Kalchuk, the project manager Bozhydar Radivoyevich and other officials.

"We are grateful the Government of Canada for the support.This cooperation is very important to the State Border Guard Service because this donation saves the lives of service personnel" - said the Head of the State  Border Guard  Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko.

Later, guests were able to get acquainted with the work of digital X-ray system. Border guard physicians have tested the newest equipment and were very impressed of its benefits.

Besides, the quality of digital picture of «CALYPSO» system is much better than its predecessor.

This is very important in the diagnosis as a digital picture allows to zoom in and out, depending on the diagnostic purpose.

Thus, the newest equipment will help border guard physicians and significantly improve treatment and diagnostic assistance of border guards, their families and veterans.

 In addition, it will now be possible to share X-ray images online, helping to reduce costs since X-ray films and chemicals will no longer be needed. The new equipment also increases patient and medical personnel safety as it emits 50 percent less radiation

It should be noted, that in the framework of joint international technical assistance project "Strengthening of border security of Ukraine" the units of State Border Guard Service have already received assistance of 14.3 million UAH from the government of Canada.

Moreover, border guard agency received the first aid from the Government of Canada in August 2014.
