A conference on Sea Breeze-2021 exercise planning was held in Odesa with the participation of representatives of 17 countries.

The representatives of the State Border Service Administration, the Southern Regional Directorate, the Regional Directorate of Maritime Protection took part in the conference.

The conference discussed the use of forces and means of units of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, joint units of the alliance, the Marine Battalion, which will be trained along with the multinational unit and servicemen of the Border Guard Rapid Reaction Command. Possible scenarios of actions have been approved during the exercises, logistical calculations, the order of organization and communication between the units of Ukraine and NATO.

The management of the exercises approved the participation of the units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine not only in the maritime, but also in the air and land components. This indicates an increase in staff training.

The Personnel Department continues to work on the organization of team training of units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The naval component of the exercises will be joined by the ship-boat personnel of the maritime protection detachments of the State Border Guard Service. The air and land component of the Sea Breeze-2021 exercise will be attended by units and equipment of the Southern Regional Directorate, including the Border Rapid Response Command of Kherson Border Guard Detachment, as well as servicemen of the 10th separate detachment of operative response “DOZOR”. Representatives of ORBITAL and UNIFIER training missions will take part in the training of units.

The purpose of the joint multinational exercise “Sea Breeze-2021” is to improve interoperability between units of the security forces of Ukraine with units of NATO member countries and partners. Participation in exercises of this level will provide border guards with experience in joint planning of operations, capacity building and ensure the coherence of the actions of units when participating in joint operations of the defense forces and NATO.

Sea Breeze is a multinational military exercise that has been conducting in Ukraine since 1997 in accordance with the 1993 Memorandum of Mutual Understanding and Cooperation in Defense and Military Relations between the US Department of Defense and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Ukraine and the United States are co-organizers of the exercises.
