In Kyiv, the results of the competition for the selection of candidates for the positions of chiefs of border guard detachments were summarized. Five competition leaders will soon head the border guard bodies.

During the official summing up ceremony Deputy Prime Minister Dmytro Kuleba got in touch from the administrative border with the occupied Crimea. "When we launch the service area in “Kalanchak”, we all see how much the Border Guard Service has changed, what major reforms have been made," said the Deputy Prime Minister. At the same time, welcoming the winners of the project "New Face of Senior Executives" (within which the competition was held), Dmytro Kuleba noted that it is extremely important to change not only the form but also the nature of the Border Guard Service and the entire state service. “And such a competition to select the managerial leaders of the new formation for Ukraine is extremely important for Ukraine and Ukrainian border guards.”

"You are our honor, our country's honor, you are our face," - First Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Serhiy Trofimov addressed the winners and participants of the competition. He praised the work of the State Border Guard Service Administration and thanked the border guards and partners for their support and experience from the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Serhiy Goncharov said that "not one individual participant has won today, all the participants have won because they have gained the most important thing in life - this is an experience that will be useful in the future work and which they will share with their subordinates."

"Very powerful, very professional, very motivated officers have won today," said Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhiy Deineko. He emphasized the unprecedented openness and objectivity of the selection, which is already a great victory not only for the agency but also for Ukraine.

“People need to see that justice exists. If you are a professional and you are developing, and you are ready to grow - all the doors are open in front of you. And it is not necessary to be someone's relative, son-in-law, brother-in-law, father-in-law… ”, - said Serhiy Deineko. He expressed confidence that with the new appointments, the agency will be able to better meet the requirements of the society to restore order at the border and fully eliminate smuggling schemes. This is a constant struggle, - said the head of the agency, - and with the arrival of the new formation leaders we are doomed to success.

William Taylor, Temporary Attorney for US Affairs in Ukraine, also testified that the selection process was completely open, competitive and objective. It gives us confidence that the best participants have won. The diplomat also congratulated the finalists of the competition. "I know that it was not easy to complete these tasks, but I sincerely congratulate those who succeeded," said William Taylor.

"It is extremely gratifying that today the “New Face” project has become synonymous with a highly motivated and open-minded agency," said Franz Prutsch, Coordinator of the IOM Office's Migration and Border Management Program in Ukraine.
