On New Year's Eve, 13 border guard families from Lutsk received the keys to new homes.

Volodymyr Nikiforenko, First Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service, arrived to hand over the keys to the apartments and greet the border guards. He noted that social protection of servicemen and their families is a priority of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. And thanks to the support of the state leadership, systematic work is being done to address the issues of providing housing for personnel.

“The social issue is constantly on the agenda for us. Not only the purchase of helicopters, boats and ships, not only the engineering of the state border, but also the provision of housing for servicemen is a priority. Border guards daily protect the state border, defend Ukraine and must have decent living conditions,” Volodymyr Nikiforenko stressed, welcoming the new apartments owners.

He added that by the end of the year, another 250 families of border guards from different parts of our country will have received monetary compensation for housing.

In general, in a multi-storey building, in accordance with the investment agreement of the construction, one-, two- and three-room apartments with a total area of ​​almost 930 m2 were allocated for border guards. Ten families received housing for permanent residence, three more - service apartments.

“Today is an extraordinary day for our family. This is such a long-awaited, New Year's gift,” Yulia, wife of a border guard of the Lutsk Border Guard Detachment shared her impressions without holding back her emotions.

Also, today, an updated Svitiaz Border Guard Division of the Lutsk Border Guard Detachment was opened. Its reconstruction was carried out during 2020. It is worth noting that during the works, assisted by local authorities, an administrative building, a box for vehicles and commercial buildings were reconstructed. Works on laying all communications were complete, the facade of department was warmed. At present, the division meets all the standards of modern border guard management, and its infrastructure and technical capabilities will allow to perform tasks for the state border protection.

The First Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service once again emphasized that the most important assets of the Agency are people, their social guarantees and proper conditions for service.

“We continue to develop and move forward, and this is just proof of our hard work, and it is very nice that this work is being done together with local authorities, together with the community, together with our entire Ukrainian society, and when we do something together, it brings wonderful results,” Volodymyr Nikiforenko stated.

Serhii Karpuk, the head of Shatsk United Territorial Community, noted that border guards are part of the community.

“Not only do they perform their military duty, they serve in our territory, but they are also an integral part of supporting the life of our community,” he said.

Border guards of Svitiaz BG division protect the border with Poland and Belarus with a total length of almost 90 kilometres. More than 200 servicemen, including above 50 who fought in the east of Ukraine serve at the division.
