This is not the first case when border guards in Chernihiv region, while performing duties assigned to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and performing control over the preservation of natural resources within the area of responsibility, reveal the facts of illegal felling of greenery.

So, recently, during the implementation of operational information, in the course of a joint patrolling of the rear areas of the controlled border area a group of servicemen of the Hirsk Border Guard Division and employees of the State Ecological Inspectorate near the village of Hirsk found more than 60 stumps of felled trees and 203 logs of commercial timber.

After clarifying the information, it was found out that there are no permits for felling in the area.

Upon detection of illegal logging, a report was sent to the National Police under Art. 246 “Illegal felling or illegal transportation, storage, sale of wood” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The wood was handed over to the National Police, the amount of damage will be determined by experts.
