Recently, a three-day conference organized with the assistance of the US Embassy in Ukraine for Ukrainian law enforcement officers whose activities are related to conducting psychophysiological research using a polygraph has ended.

The event was attended by about twenty officers of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

During the conference, polygraph examiners improved their skills and studied the best practices of polygraph research, as lectures were given by well-known professionals in this field - Donald Crepol and Michael de la Pena. Donald Krepol, President-elect of the American Polygraphic Association, a polygraph examiner with more than 40 years of practical experience and a world-renowned scientist, is the author of more than 100 scientific papers on various aspects of polygraph work.

The lecturer presented materials on the latest trends in the field of polygraphy, which related to decision-making rules and assessment systems.

Michael de la Pena, a former FBI polygraph examiner with 16 years of experience with more than 2,500 tests, shared his knowledge and advice on conducting polygraph studies in terrorism and violent crime, using "active listening" skills as a tool for negotiating in crisis situations. situations, as well as the features of the survey and interrogation. It should be noted that the relevance of psychophysiological research using a polygraph in various areas of law enforcement is confirmed by both international and domestic practical experience. It is generally accepted that there is a high level of efficiency in the use of the polygraph in personnel decision-making, prevention of corruption and offenses in working with staff.
