Recently, border guards of the Mukachevo border guard detachment together with their colleagues from Hungary conducted the first joint patrolling this year.

It should be noted that joint patrols of the Ukrainian-Hungarian border have been suspended since March last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The patrolling of the Ukrainian-Hungarian border was carried out on the territory of Hungary yesterday in front of the area of responsibility of the Luzhanka border guard department. It was attended by border guards of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the Hungarian police.

The decision to resume such patrols was made bilaterally. It should be noted that only law enforcement officers who have been vaccinated against coronavirus are allowed to patrol.

It will be recalled that border guard patrolling by Ukrainian and Hungarian border guards began in 2014. Such patrols are conducted both on the territory of Ukraine and on the territory of Hungary. Joint patrolling on the territory of the state of the other Party is carried out in official uniform without weapons and special means.

Joint protection of the state border allows more effective counteraction to illegal activities at the border, and in case of detection of attempts to transfer illegal migrants or movement of smuggled goods, to act more quickly to stop them.
